I've now had the iPhone 6 Plus for just over two weeks. I still love it. I still think it's the best phone for most people. In the two weeks that I've owned it , there's one thing about the phone that blows me away — battery life. The big screen is nice, and probably the best feature. At 5.5-inches it makes the 4-inch iPhone seem puny. It also makes the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 seem small. But, the second most impressive thing is how long the phone lasts on a single charge. I am regularly getting 2 days worth of battery life out of the phone. For anyone that's owned an iPhone ever, this is hard to believe. But it's true! At worst, if I go nuts with usage, I have to charge it after 36 hours, or a day and a half of usage. It seems like Apple has figured out how to make standby usage really strong. I charged my phone last night to 100%. This morning at 11 AM, after very little usage the phone was still at 100%. ( With the iPhone 5S, I would probably be at 80% or worse.) On an almost daily basis, I am in awe of the battery life. The battery life alone makes the iPhone 6 Plus the iPhone to buy. GT Advanced CEO Thomas Gutierrez sold over 9,000 shares of GT Advanced stock just a day before Apple announced the iPhone 6, reports The Wall Street Journal . The September 8 sale netted him approximately $160,000 at an average price of $17.38, before the company's stock dropped 13 percent to $14.94 on September 9 after it became clear the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus did not include sapphire screens. Along with the $160,000 he earned on September 8, Gutierrez sold shares on several other occasions throughout 2014, earning him more than 10 million dollars as GT stock rose on rumors that Apple would use its sapphire for the new iPhones. In a filing, GT said Gutierrez's share sale was part of a pre-arranged plan put in place on March 14, 2014. But there was no obvious pattern to his sales. In May, June and July, Gutierrez sold shares within the first three days of the month. But then he didn't sell additional shares until Sept. 8, two days after he received 15,902 previously restricted shares. (Gutierrez forfeited the remaining 6,670 shares to cover tax obligations.) GT Advanced filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday, promising to continue operations as it goes through a transitional phase to reorganize its business. GT's stock rode high on the iPhone rumors for months, but it dropped when the new iPhones launched without sapphire and fell down a hole when it announced the bankruptcy filing. GT Advanced Technologies, the company Apple currently relies on for sapphire in its iOS devices, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy yesterday . The filing came just a few weeks after Apple announced its new iPhones on September 10—both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were widely expected to use sapphire instead of glass to protect their screens from scratches. This didn't happen, though, and it sent GT's stock price sliding downward even before yesterday's bankruptcy filing pushed it off a cliff. Now The W all Street Journal reports that GT CEO Thomas Gutierrez has sold over $10 million in stock since February of 2014, including 9,000 shares worth about $160,000 on September 8. This was two days before the iPhone announcement. The stock closed at $17.15 on the 8th, but had fallen to $12.78 on the 10th following Apple's event. GT Advanced Technologies, the maker of ultra-durable sapphire displays , lost over 25% of its market value over the course of 48 hours last month — but not before the company's CEO sold 9,000 shares of GT stock, according to the Wall Street Journal's Daisuke Wakabayashi . GT's CEO, Thomas Gutierrez, made a neat $160,000 when he sold a sizable chunk of stock on Sept. 8. GT's stock had been on the rise for about two years on speculation that its partnership with Apple would increase and sustain demand for the company's sapphire displays, which were poised to replace Corning's Gorilla Glass on the iPhone 6. It didn't happen that way. On Sept. 9, the day after Gutierrez cashed out, Apple announced the iPhone 6 at its gala event in Cupertino — but made no mention of a sapphire display. You can see how that news — or rather, the lack of news — affected the company's stock price: The day of the iPhone 6 announcement, GTAT dropped 13%. Over the next two days it would lose over a quarter of its value. It's unclear why Apple didn't use sapphire to build the displays in its latest iPhones. Their new study of 352 men and women between the ages of 16 and 34 shows that guys who are single or in uncommitted relationships and looking for a short-term mate are more likely than their more committed peers to purchase a high-status smartphone . The study's authors -- Christine Hennighausen , a doctoral student in the university's department of media psychology and her university colleague Prof. Frank Schwab -- said in their paper that they believe men looking for a fling might flash their fancy phones to convince potential mates that they have sufficient resources to provide for them. The study, published in the recent issue of Letters on Evolutionary Behavioral Science, also showed that men who were interested in a long-term relationship rather than a one-night stand were more likely to buy an inexpensive, low-status smartphone.
