iPhone continues to gain on Android
For all the hype Apple's iPhone gets, it's still not the most popular smartphone in the U.S., but it continues to gain market share. Reston-based comScore Inc. says iPhone accounted for 42 percent of the U.S. smartphone market in August, up from 41.9 percent in May. Android phones fell to 52 percent of the market, from 52.1 percent. Blackberry Inc. barely registers in the U.S., with just a 2.3 percent market share.
